China Glaze Poolside Collection

Fasten your seat-belts, slather on the sunblock, and throw on those shades, for it is time to have a look at the insanely bright new China Glaze Poolside Collection.

A collection of eye popping neons that dry down to a satiny finish, these polishes whisper, nay scream of hot summer days and nights.

Pool Party

Pool party is a hotter than hot pink that is all kinds of awesome. The shade itself is vibrant, popping, and neon without being too over the top.

Flip Flop Fantasy

A bright coral, flip flop is the quintessential summer pedicure polish. Since coral is always a hot color to wear when the temperature rises, I can easily see this shade making its way onto a lot of digits this summer. Never have I seen a coral this bright.

Towel Boy Toy

A cool shade of deep sky blue, this polish is the most unique of the bunch in that it actually has a beautiful shimmer to it. This one applied the easiest, and holds within its tropical hue a subtle sparkle that I liken to a cool refreshing breeze in a vivid blue sky on a hot day.

Kiwi Cool Ada

The Kool Aid Man couldn't think up this color if he tried. Highlighter green in color, this shade to me is less kiwi and more lime, kind of like a bright sour punch to the eyes. I will admit that this shade isn't my favorite, but that might be because I am not a fan of greens in general.

Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

She might have worn an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini, but I don't think her yellow was quite this bright. When I look at this shade, I just can't help but think of those highlighters that would end up all over my hands while studying for exams back in high school. Surprisingly, this yellow has quite a lot of green in it.

Sun Worshipper

A bright orange with strong yellow tones, this shade almost reminds me of spray cheese- yes, spray cheese. It is like liquid tang, orangey sweet without the sour.

All of these shades are ridiculously bright, unique, and fun for those warmer months. My only wish would be that they were easier to work with as a whole. Many of the shades applied a bit unevenly, and didn't achieve full opacity even with three coats. I found going with thin multiple layers works best. The exception to the hard to work with rule is Towel Boy Toy, which applied full and opaque in three coats, and with sparkle. Note that these shades are mostly satin, so you will need a topcoat to get the full on shine factor.

Application issues aside, China Glaze gets lots of points for having great colors that bring the fun. China Glaze's Poolside collection will be coming to a store near you around April, so be on the lookout neon lovers.
