Color Theory, Popping Peepers and Physician's Formula

One of the first things makeup artists (and the makeup obsessed) come to learn is that certain colors are just made for one another. Like peanut butter and jelly, complementary colors play off and enhance one another in a way most aesthetically pleasing. To understand this a bit better, let's go ahead and take a look at that color wheel we were all so fond of in grade school.

Colors that are opposite one another are complimentary. When paired together, one makes the other stand out and vice versa. Don't believe me? Have a look at the pictures below.

*Notice how vivid the purple looks against yellow and green? Complementary color theory at work folks.

Now where am I going with all of this, and what does it have to do with beauty? Well, cosmetic brands are catching onto the fact that consumers are looking to compliment their features in the best way possible. Specifically, they know that beauties are on the lookout for shades that will make their peepers pop. No matter what eye color you have been blessed with, there is a shade of eyeliner or eyeshadow that will make it that much more intense. Physician's Formula knows this, and has created a whole line of eyeliners that are specifically tailored to do just that.

The Shimmer Strip is a stacked trio of gel eyeliners designed to both define and enhance. It comes in four varieties (Hazel, Green, Brown, and Blue), with each strip containing three analogous shades that range from subtle to dramatic. The formula is on par with your typical gel liners, gliding on and lasting all day. A brush comes included, but I found it to be pretty mediocre, I stick to my pro brushes for precision lining anyway. Overall, two enthusiastic thumbs up for the stackable packaging, genius idea, and great formula.

Brown Eyes, with shades of brown, plum, and black

If you are looking for that perfect shade of eyeliner that will make your eyes pop, cast your eyes in the direction of Physicians Formula's newest shimmer strips. They will make your peepers pop, I promise.

Great post! I like Physicians Formula products and bought the purple/black mascara. While I have to get used to seeing purple on my lashes, it's a gorgeous combination.

I wish the brown set came with a green, rather than a brown or black!
