Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes Waterproof

The official mascara of mermaids, beach babes, and summer lovers at large, say hello to the newest incarnation of Givenchy's iconic Phenomen'eyes in Turquoise.

Upon first glance, the brush on this mascara is pretty darned scary, as a certain medieval weapon comes to mind. The spherical brush is designed to grab every single lash and hit it from all angles, resulting in lush, gorgeously curled and separated lashes. Essentially, this mascara is intended to fan out the lashes, and open your eyes up really wide. The turquoise is the perfect fit for summer sunshine, and the waterproof formula ensures your mascara won't flake or melt.

Getting the hang of this one is tricky. It feels counter-intuitive to have this coming near your eye, and the brushes handle it very thick which makes it a bit difficult to maneuver in the beginning. The best way to apply this (for me at least) was to hold the brush perpendicular to the lash base and drag up slowly. Wiggling here might result in an eyeful of mascara, so move slowly! Once you become accustomed to both the brush and the method, you will come to find that you really do grab each and every lash, resulting in an impressive panoramic effect with lashes that are beautifully separated and curled. Applying it has become second nature to me, and I find myself reaching for that chubby tube of turquoise goodness often.

While the initial application does take some getting used to, in the end Givenchy's Phenomen'Eyes Waterproof gets high marks for providing fluttery, curled lashes that stand up to the heat (and splashes!) of summer. For a finish that is as fun and as beautiful as you are, Givenchy's Phenomen'Eyes gets high marks. It is available now at your local Sephora.
