Budget Friendly Beauty- Revlon Artificial Nails

I have a confession to make. I indulge in weekly spa manicures. In Manhattan, that is quite a pretty penny I spend on manicure services, polishes, and proper nail upkeep products. Did I mention it is also time consuming, and that I am not a very patient gal? I put up with the inconveniences because I am convinced that nothing looks better than a trendy polish on a freshly manicured hand, but gosh, sometimes I just lack time and funds for a proper manicure. If you see my sleeves pulled down or my hands in my pockets, chances are I am hiding my chipped fingers in shame. This has me looking to fake it when I am having one of ‘those weeks’.

For a long time, artificial nails have gotten a bad wrap. Fake nails of the 80s and 90’s oftentimes looked tacky, cheesy, and straight-up stupid. I am not lying when I say that in the past I would have been the first person to tell you that press-on nails look ridiculous. Images of plastic talons with Technicolor designs and boxy shapes come to mind. Filed under beauty faux pas, artificial nails fell off my radar for years and years.

Fast forward to present day. As previously mentioned, I fork over big bucks and lots of time to keep my nails looking pretty. Sometimes, I just wish that there was a quick fix solution that would actually look good and not break the bank. I am happy to report that Revlon is slowly convincing me that yes, press on nails aren’t that bad after all. In fact, fake nails can actually look cute.

A stylish alternative and half the cost of a manicure, Revlon’s Runway Collection line is not only cute, but they look natural. They come in amazing colors and styles, and last for a very long time.

Witness my Revlon faux mani.

I am rather impressed with the results, and will now happily use these when I just can’t get to the salon or can’t justify forking over the money.

How do you all feel about faux nails. Yay or nay?

I like faux nails that has unique designs or just the french ones. Most of the time my twin sister wears faux nails and me I don't since the nail glue hates me lol

We have lots of cheap Chinese manicure stores here where I live in Leicester, England. I once visisted these 'manicurists'and asked for a French manicure (simple enough eh?) - and they airbrushed my nails?!?! It looked fabulous, but the spray-paint peeled off the next day!!!! LOL!! So I have learnt when it comes to nails - spending money is the only real solution! :)

I have never tried fake nails (because I am an Arts student, and end up getting my nails messed up easily :( ). I do think those look lovely on you -very natural! x

I like the looks of those. I would say yes to fake nails. I agree though freshly manicured hands look marvelous.....

i think i may be the queen of natural looking faux...especially the kiss faux toenails. but for you, since you do get manicures often, i would say be careful because the glue can tear your nails up!

i get my nails done occasionally but because i have three small kids under 5, they never stay done. This is definitely a great alternative, and a quick, gorgeous and efficient use of time and money.

Hannah, nail care is definitely tricky business! The wonderful thing about these press on nails is that they are very low commitment. Perhaps you can try them out on a special occasion? ;)

Krista, these nails ended up looking much better than I ever thought they would. They are definitely a feasible alternative :)

Hotmamaoyeah, I completely agree with you! Being very active and using your hands daily, faux nails are probably a good way to go!

I do prefer natural nails and try hard to take care of my own, however for special events sometimes having the option of the press-on would be great because I have accidentally broken nails before special occasions. Best of both worlds!

Stefanie, I agree with you 100%! While I do keep my own nails in tip top shape, sometimes press ons are very convenient!

I am a Nail Tech and a Makeup Artist. I suggest to people who want to grow out their natural nails to have a good manicure (I offer a nail restoration manicure for those weaning off acrylics) and then use these nails. If you polish your own nails then apply these, your nails will continue to grow underneath. I suggest removing them once a week for a day until your own reach the length you want.
Also, the glue for these nails will soften up when they get wet, but if you hold each nail tight to the natural nail for a moment the glue will reset.
I also suggest removing them with nail remover, which can be usually be found where the nails are sold. They come off much quicker than acrylics, so the acetone soak is not as damaging.

Did they last long for you? The only get through three or four days max for me - if I don't wash dishes or anything "crazy" like that!

Anonymous, thank you so much for all that helpful advice, it is much appreciated!

Miss Yaya, they last about 3-5 days on average, which makes them very low commitment. I like that ;)
