Pur Minerals Proves, Not all Mineral Makeup is Created Alike

If you read my blog, you may ask yourself why I don't really touch mineral makeup.

This picture sums it up:
It isn't because its not accessible, nor is it for lack of variety and brands out there. Readers, the reason I don't touch mineral makeup is because I haven't found one brand that I like. The foundations are chalky, the eyeshadows lack pigmentation and an overabundance of the sparkly stuff usually has me running in horror.

Well readers, I have happily found the first brand of mineral makeup that sets itself apart from other brands I have seen thus far. Pur Minerals is a brand of mineral makeup that gives you all the benefits of mineral makeup, without the hype and without the too-much sparkle factor. Instead of loose powders, Pur Minerals are pressed, allowing for maximum coverage and less mess. With its simple and ingenious packaging, the line gets down to business and really packs a powerful color punch.

The Pressed Mineral makeup is exactly what it says, a pressed mineral foundation that delivers light to medium coverage, with the added benefits of SPF 15 built right in. I like to reach for this on those low maintenance days, for just a hint of coverage and a lovely luminescence sans disco ball sparkle. Subtlety is key.

Swatched:
Eyeshadows:

It deserves to be mentioned that I am an eyeshadow snob. I love pigmentation, hate fallout, and cannot stand colors that don't blend effortlessly. That said, I have nothing but great things to say about these eyeshadows. They apply like silk, stay put, and go where you want them to. I liken the texture on these to the MAC veluxe pearl.

Swatched: L-R Champagne Citrine, Chrome Cryolite, Burgundy Malachite, Midnight Jade

Mineral Eye Defining Pencil and Eye Liner:

Pencil eyeliner is something that most mineral companies don't do. Fortunately, this khol pencil performs wonderfully, and glides on the eye . These pencils are water-resistant, creamy, and dry to a deliciously powder finish. The smudger on the end allows you to smudge your way to smoky-eyed perfection.

Swatched on bottom: Smoky Granite

Not only does Pur bring the pigments, but the packaging is amazing. Each compact (eyeshadows included!) holds a secret compartment underneath for applicators and a mirror. Sure, the applicators are practically useless, but I absolutely love that they are there for emergencies.

Pur Minerals Cosmetics is available on the Pur Minerals website, Dillard's, and at Ulta. I highly recommend trying it if you don't normally gravitate towards mineral makeup. I am convinced that this stuff rocks (he, he, get it?).

Is it me or does Burgundy Malachite look very similar to MAC's Club, only a little more reddish-brown?

I'm amazed at how pigmented they are!

I don't like minerals either. They are indeed messy and liquids are just perform better. (I go only for liquid foundation) But seems promising!
OMG those are really mineral e/s swatches? awesome!
Hmm I think Pür Minerals deserves a try! Thank you for the review!

Taryn, that is exactly what I was thinking. It looks nearly identical to club, and has an amazing texture. These shadows are deliciously pigmented too!
