Fashion Musings- Premium Denim

Just a couple of days ago, I was killing time browsing through one online sample sale site or another, when I decided to investigate the obligatory premium denim sale situation. Perusing the offerings, I couldn't help but think of how steep the prices were, despite boasting a savings rate of over 50%.

Are those True Religion jeans really worth it?

Trust me when I state that frugal is not my middle name by any stretch of the imagination (shut up Anthony), so my initial grimace in reaction to the prices I saw online surprised even me. My mom has always recited the mantra quality over quantity, and most of the time I live by those words when I shop. I will easily spend $500 on a brand new purse, but in this instance I just couldn't bring myself to shell out anything over $70 for a pair of jeans featured in the sale.

This got me thinking, could I bring myself to spend upwards of $200 on a pair of jeans while shopping in an actual brick and mortar store? Would I whip out the plastic, or back away slowly? After really thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that I can easily see myself shelling out the big bucks for that perfect pair that hugs just so. I attributed my initial reaction to the online sample sale prices to the fact that these jeans weren't in front of me, so I couldn't really gauge their worth. Premium denim can be a thing of beauty, and when presented with a pair that provides both quality and timeless style, I am sure to become weak-kneed.

I took to twitter to ask what the most others would pay for a premium pair of jeans, and not surprisingly found that many are willing to spend upwards of $200 for that perfect pair. Validated by the thoughts of my peers, I laid the question to rest and proceeded to  indulge in a  bit of online window shopping.

The result? I am now craving some Rock and Republic and True Religion in my life.

I guess the moral of this story is that premium denim is a worthy investment for many a woman. The other moral? I need more premium denim in my life.

Tell me in the comments, what is the most you have spent on a pair of jeans? Would you go premium, and if so then why?

I have never paid more than 60.00 for a pair of jeans....I would love to buy premium jeans but too pricey. I would easily spend 300 on a hand bag or some kick butt shoes but denim it just doesn't seem justifiable. I would rather dress the lower price jeans up with a great pair of shoes or tops....Make the jeans look like you paid a bundle for them!!!

Krista, I completely understand where you are coming from. Not a bad mentality to have at all.
