here. Long story short, I have experienced my very own beauty renaissance, and I am all about the face masks lately. I find that they are great for a quick fix, no fuss, clarifying treatment.
Going to the Womens Health Spa event back in March, I learned a lot about various uncommon but very healthy skin ingredients. Alexis Farah, beauty editor extraordinaire could not stop gushing about The Body Shop's Pure Detox Clarifying Clay Mask, so naturally I had to take it on a test run myself. It is all in the name of science I say!
Looking to spice up my skincare routine, I was excited to try this mask whose ingredient list boasts Dead-Sea mud, algae and wasabi. Yes, wasabi; the green stuff you put on your tuna roll. As anyone who has taken a moutful of wasabi on a dare knows, it is some pretty potent stuff capable of bringing tears to your eyes and putting hair on your chest. As it turns out, the green paste is as good for clearing out your pores as it is good as clearing your sinuses. As some good for your all natural ingredients straight from nature, and the results surely sound promising.
The instructions on the package told me to wet my face and lay it on thick (paraphrasing of course). I found the mask itself to be very thick and sticky, almost the consistency of frosting. To my surprise, this really did warm up on contact, providing my skin with a very soothing soft heat. After 15 minutes of warm and tingly goodness, it was time to wash it all off.
I was pleased to see that my skin was wonderfully smooth and radiant, thats the good news! The bad news? I was not pleased with the fact that my skin was still tingling for a few minutes after I removed the last remnants of this mask. While I don't find this to be a deal-breaker, others with more sensitive skin might take offense.
The conclusion, I found this mask gave me fantastic results, and was very pleasant during use. It left my skin radiant and smooth and ready to soak up my moisturizer. However, I worry that those with sensitive skin might find it to be a bit too much of tingle if ya know what i mean.
If I had to rate this I would give it a 4/5. A solid effort for what I feel to be more of a budget brand.
