The Science of Skincare- Jan Marini Bioglycolic Line

Skincare gets technical when I call in the big guns.

I was first introduced to the Jan Marini Skincare line via Marini Lash and the Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant SPF 30 Tinted. Now, I venture deeper into the amazing Marini Line with Bioglycolics. Specifically, the Bioglycolic Facial Cleanser and Bioglycolic Resurfacing Body Scrub.

source

Time to get technical, and delve back into my pre-med roots. What does this Bioglycolic business mean, anyway?

The active ingredient in the bioglycolic line is glycolic acid, an acid with a relatively low pH that possesses the ability to really penetrate the first layer of skin to dissolve lipids (fats, dirt, oils, etc). Glycolic acid is proven to improve skin tone and texture, and is ever-present in many skin peels, both clinical and at-home versions. For the Biolglycolic line, Jan Marini has included the useful acid in low concentrations in order to dissolve pore-clogging residue, allowing for maximum product absorption. That means your serums and lotions will really get into that fresh, clean, clog-free skin.
With such a potent and effective active ingredient, it is no wonder that I am now hooked on the cleanser. It has become a staple of my nightly skincare routine for the past 3 weeks and is still going strong. Using this has made my skin smoother and more radiant. Most importantly, it gets rid of the day's nastiness, leaving my skin clean as a whistle with no dryness. The cleanser is gentle enough for daily use, and has no scent.
Bioglycolic Resurfacing Scrub taps into the same glycolic power, with the addition of exfoliating granules to help slough off dull, dead skin. I have been using this with every shower, to ensure that all the roughness goes away and that my skin is left ready to absorb my moisturizer.

These two products are winners in my book, and further back my love for Jan Marini skincare. The Bioglycolic skincare line is all available online, and I highly recommend checking it out.

Jan Marini Lash- Eyelash Conditioner

We all want long, full, healthy-looking lashes right? I mean, if the eyes are the window to the soul, then the lashes are the curtains. Why have flimsy cotton drapes when you can have lush velvet? The richer the better.

We obviously aren't all born with full fringes, and many fake it however they can. Some go faux with falsies, messing with adhesive and tweezers. Others frantically look for that one perfect mascara that lifts and separates. Some turn to extensions, having an expert bond false lashes to their own. And lastly, some are turning to a new generation of lash enhancers, serums that purportedly cause an increase in lash density and length.

One such lash growth stimulator is Jan Marini lash, a lash conditioner formulated with peptides that are designed to both fortify lashes and stimulate an increase in thickness and length.

Well does it work? Here are the pictures:

Started use on 5.20.09

Day 1:

6.30.09

Keep in mind that I am not wearing any mascara in my pictures! Do you see the difference? Personally, I am noticing a significant increase in density and thickness. That is enough to convince me that this stuff works! There are other versions out there, but I am very happy with the results I got with this. I will keep you posted with pictures as I continue use, just so you can all see my progress!

Sure, its pricey, but I am convinced that Marini Lash works. It is available on MyJanMarini.com and retails for $160. The price is pretty much on par with other products of its caliber.

What do you all think? Has anyone ever used any lash enhancers? Share your experiences!

Jan Marini Tinted Moisturizer with SPF

Here is an equation for you all: Harsh rays of the sun + morning time crunch + tired looking skin= the need for a high performance tinted moisturizer with SPF.

Given- The harmful UVA and UVB rays emitted by the sun are hazardous to skin health, causing everything from premature aging to skin cancer. Therefore, SPF is essential

Given: Dehydration, exhaustion, poor diet, etc cause the skin to look sallow, tired, and washed out. Therefore, some form of coverage is needed

Given- The environment we live in can have many detrimental effects on skin’s health and appearance. Therefore, a nutrient and moisture-rich antioxidizing agent is necessary to counteract the effects of a not too healthy environment.

Due to all these environmental no-goodniks, I have long since incorporated tinted moisturizer with SPF into my morning makeup routine. I find it to be a quick fix; providing instant hydration, sun protection and light coverage on my pale skin. It is no muss, and keeps me looking my best despite the fact that my skin doesn’t always look its best and I do not have as much time in the mornings to devote to applying a full face of makeup, as I should.

While I have tried many tinted SPF brands, none have ever really given me healthy skin benefits other than hydration. Well, all that has changed with the Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant Tinted. This has waltzed into my life recently and I am convinced I will never let it go. Not only does this tinted moisturizer give me a much needed color boost, but it also keeps my skin smooth, hydrated, and positively radiant throughout the day. It is oil-free, and satin in finish (matte with a slight glow).

Did I mention this smells tropical? I detect a hint of coconuts, which I love! The color I use and love is Sunkissed Sand, and since using this I have gotten so many compliments on my skin. Everyone wants to know where my healthy glow is coming from and what I am doing differently!

* See, I am not making this stuff up kids! Doesn't my skin look great here?!

I am absolutely in love with my Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant Tinted in Sunkissed Sand. It is an essential component to my makeup routinem and I am thrilled to have discovered it. While many tinted moisturizers with spf exist (I have tried my fair share), Jan Marini’s is the best I have tried yet.

Definitely wander over to Jan Marini’s website to check it out for yourself.

Do you use tinted moisturizer? If so, what are your favorites?

Jan Marini Age Intervention- Give tired skin the boot!

In my everlasting quest for perfect skin, I now move on to the next brand that I put to the test, Jan Marini skincare.

I was a bit nervous delving into the realm of anti-aging skincare, but boy am I ever glad I took the plunge and tried this for myself because these products are pretty awesome.

Free Radicals, pollution, sun exposure. What do all of these have in common?

The answer is that they all cause premature aging of the skin. With all those "no-goodniks" out there causing our skin to age, a girl could use all the help she can get in keeping her skin vibrant and wrinkle free. It truly is never too early to start an anti-aging regime, and it is Jan Marini to the rescue with her age intervention 1-2 punch.

The first step in the regimen that was recommended for me is the Age Intervention Regeneration Facial Mask.

From the website:

Regeneration Facial Mask incorporates resurfacing technology with a host of powerful anti-aging anti-inflammatories including the new red wine longevity extract, Resveratrol, all combined with our remarkable skin rebuilding peptide blend.

  • Gives skin a beautifully resurfaced and luminous appearance
  • Delivers and infuses superb skin rebuilding, anti-inflammatory and repair properties
  • Leaves skin noticeably softer and rejuvenated for days
  • Provides amazing progressive benefits for any skin type and condition
I applied this as the instructions said. You apply this all over and let it sit for ten minutes after which you wash it all off with warm water.

Upon application, I can literally feel my skin firming up. It isn't uncomfortable at all, and is in fact pretty exciting because you can actually feel it working. It is gentle on my somewhat sensitive skin, and after the ten minutes are up my skin was softer, smoother, more radiant, and more supple. Unlike with the other masks I have used in the past, the result lasted several days. It also deserves to be mentioned that at no point before, during or after the application did I feel any sort of uncomfortable tingling sensation.

I have been using this product for the past 3 weeks, and it has been working wonderfully!

I have been following up the mask with the Peptide Extreme Facial Serum (which I do use nightly). The serum serves to enhance the results of the mask, hydrating my skin and adding radiance, firmness, and smoothness.

All in all I am very pleased with the results that I have been seeing with this regimen! A big A+ for Jan Marini skincare, I definitely recommend her line.

Be sure to visit Jan Marini's website, to check out this amazing line for yourself! And stay tuned for more Jan Marini reviews coming up right here on Krasey Beauty!
