It has been quite some time since we last visited Three Custom Color, but I am pleased to say that they are making an appearance once more here on Krasey Beauty. Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tars

Out of the cosmetic-grade muck, a new series of OCC’s wildly popular lip tars have emerged, much to everyone’s delight. Getting a makeover for spring with soft, demure shades meant to be mixed and matched to perfection, these new shades of lip tar can only be described as covetable. In the name of all that is pigmented in a lip product, I had to claim these three bad boys as my very own.

Stars in Her Eyes- Julie Hewett Lipsticks

Welcome to another edition of beauty brands that make me say where have you been all my life? Today's post will serve as a brief introduction to one of my newest obsessions, the awesome offerings from Julie Hewett-Los Angeles.

The beauty brainchild of one of Hollywood's brightest makeup artists, Julie Hewett Los Angeles is a line founded and brought to life by Julie's need for a modern, vivid range red lipsticks on the set of one of her movies (Pearl Harbor, if you must know). Taking her inspiration from black and white films and old world 1940's French glamour, Julie launched the Noir Collection with the philosophy that great makeup starts from the lips up. Believing that every woman should have her own signature shade of red, Julie's line offers up nine variations. What better way to start our explorations into her brand than by taking a look at a couple of shades that this amazing makeup line make?

Lip Luxury- Cle De Peau Lipstick

The day is new and the morning is bright as the city comes to life. Rays of sunlight stream in through the window and dance on the walls as she attempts to wipe the sleep from her eyes and enable awareness to slowly settle in. She glances at her pearl timepiece through squinted eyes only to confirm something she already knew instinctually, that she just doesn't have enough precious time on this particularly sunny morning. She sits down at her vanity and pulls out her favorite tube of rouge, and instantly she feels more radiant and beautiful. Now she is ready to start her day.

In the world of beauty, there is nothing more iconic than a tube of lipstick. A universal symbol of everything that is good and feminine, lipstick has the power to instill confidence, enhance our appearances, and turn our moods right around. In the sea of makeup that I have come to own, I always reach for my high end lipstick pieces when I need an instant boost and want to feel more beautiful, confident, and ready to take on the world. There are several things in this world that I will truly splurge on, and for all it represents- lipstick happens to be one of them.

Cle de Peau is a brand that drips with opulence and luxury, stealing the hearts of all who choose to indulge. Their foundation and concealer are legendary in the beauty books (more on that later), but it is their lipstick that I am currently fixated on. Extra Rich Lipstick has wrapped me in its silky embrace from the moment I first tried it. It is my current beauty obsession and the ultimate lip luxury.

Each bullet of creamy color is chiseled into the shape of a baguette diamond, allowing for optimum precision of application straight from the tube. The pigmented color is infused with moisture, and glides onto my lips and feels instantly moisturizing, not sacrificing does more than glide, but instead flutters about the lips in the lightest of caresses. The creamy formula is non-drying, and lasts all day.

Shade R1 is called Black Bacara, and is a deep, intense shade of burgundy red with purple tones. The shade makes a statement with its dark vampy touches, but does not overwhelm. The dark bruised purple sparkle is an overspray, and once it disappears you are left with a shade more soft berry than intense burgundy.

Shade R2 is called Red Abundance, and is a classic, warm shade of crimson. True red in the tube, the shade definitely swatches more on the warm side. This is the perfect lipstick to wear when breaking out the cat cat eyes and black peep toe pumps.

Swatched: R2 on left, R1 on right

For luxurious lipsticks that make me feel expensive, I have embraced these two from Cle de Peau. One swipe of these heavily pigmented creams can completely turn my day around. You can find them at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks.

What is your lip luxury?

For those who missed it, but want to see what Cyndi and Gaga wore, here you go:

Lancome Had Me Chris and Tell- The Saks Event with Chris Benz

Every season has it, that one "it" shade of lipstick that every girl must have. Usually released as a limited edition color, beauty lovers go crazy and the product sells out in a hot New York minute. The lucky few who get their hands on it are stuck in a state of cosmetic induced euphoria (that would be me), and then there are those who were too late, and who are left to hang their heads in shame while frantically searching through ebay on the daily. I have been there, and it isn't pretty.

Not so this time, as I am now the proud owner of Lancome's newest lipstick in the Pout a Porter Lipstick, Chris and Tell. A collaboration with hotter than hot fashion designer Chris Benz, this creamy, sumptuous shade of coral is the hottest color of the spring season. I actually had the opportunity to meet Chris Benz today at a Saks event, as I got the story behind the shade.

Me: Who is the typical Chris Benz girl, what does she look like?
Chris: I don't have the specific look of the girl in mind, but I do have a general idea of what she would be like. She is funny and down to Earth, without being too serious. She is glamorous, but in a casual way

Me: Why a coral?
Chris: We were actually originally going to go with a nude beige. During the creative process, we had a look at the standout colors from the spring line, and then we just started mixing colors. A little bit of this, a bit more of that. In that sense, it was a very organic process.  In the end we had the shade you see here, and we were very happy with it.

Me: So why a coral?
Chris: The coral shade of the lipstick is a new update on a classic color. Kind of like your grandmother's coral, but fresher. It is chic, universally flattering, and easy to wear. Bright, but not too bright, a coral that is pink and not orange.

Me: So are you a fan of making the lips stand out?
Chris: Well, I do feel like a lively lipstick is an easy way to update an outfit. With each different lip color that you put on, you change your look, and how you feel.

And that folks is the inside scoop. Chris was an absolute delight to speak with, and extremely down to Earth. Oh, and he has the patience of a saint, as he waited while I pulled my camera out of my Mary Poppins-esque bag, to snap the pic you see above.

Unfortunately, Chris and Tell seems to be sold out almost everywhere. If you do visit the Lancome website, it might tell you which locations near you will still have it. Good luck beauties!

Stay tuned for swatches and a more in-depth review of the lipstick, if I can bring myself to open the box that is.

MAC VIVA GLAM with LADY GAGA and Cindy Lauper

Viva Glam is a line of lipsticks that need no introduction. 100% of sales proceeds go directly to the MAC AIDS fund, and that is something we can all get behind.

On that same note, the ladies you see above need no introduction. Both Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper are music icons, and gorgeous to boot. They are lending their images to two brand new Viva Glam limited edition lipsticks, launching today! Cyndi is a red lustre, while Gaga is a medium pink lustre.

Fun Fact: Lady Gaga rocked the shade during her amazing Grammy performance!

Help support the MAC AIDS fund, and purchase Viva Glam. Supporting a great cause has never looked more glamorous.

Holiday Beauty- The Perfect Red Pout by Rouge d'Armani

Red lips are to the holiday season what smoky eyes are for a night out on the town. They just go together, period. That being said, there is a plethora of options that await you when searching for the perfect shade of red lipstick, whether it be cool, warm, neutral, berry, etc. For the love of crimson lips, allow me narrow down the choices for you in what I am sure will evolve into many red lipstick posts. In this post, I will spotlight Rouge d'Armani in 401, a warm orange/red made famous by Rihanna during Fashion's Night Out 2009.

Rouge d'Armani is a brand new lipstick formula from the iconic brand, and features new, Color-fil technology. Without getting too technical, what that means is that you get smooth, rich color that bonds to your lips for 8 hours of wear. Everyone who has rocked red lips before knows that keeping the color in place is difficult, but Rouge d'Armani does that beautifully. Smooth, creamy, moisturizing, and deliciously bright, 401 is everything you could ever want in a red lipstick, and more.

This shiny black tube keeps shut with the aid of a magnet in the cap, keeping the tube closed in my jungle of a purse.

Just so you can see how gorgeous this is on, here it is swatched, on my hand, and then on my lips.

The formula is very glossy, ultra creamy, and super moisturizing. This lipstick just might be the perfect warm red, and would make an amazing edition to your holiday red lip arsenal.

401, along with all the other Rouge d'Armani lipsticks can be found at most high end department stores, and online on the Giorgio Armani Beauty website.

Chanel Rouge Lacque- Love in a Liquid Lipstick

It has been quite a while since I have mentioned Chanel Beauty here, so shame on me. A beloved high end cosmetics brand, I feel like Chanel consistently delivers both elegance and glamour. I am especially fond of their lip products, and swear by the iconic Glossimer lip glosses. Chanel has done it again, and created a winner in the new Rouge Allure Lacque Luminous Satin Lip Lacquer.

The newest addition to the house of Chanel beauty, Rouge Allure Lacque is a hybrid of gloss and lipstick. With the opacity, coverage, and lasting power of a lipstick, and the sheen of lipgloss, Rouge Allure Lacque is a gift from the cosmetic gods. This liquid lipstick applies with a doe foot applicator, and dries down to a glossy satin finish. As with the Glossimers, there is definitely a subtle sparkle present. Wear on this is excellent, and I find the lacquer to be both creamy, and moisturizing.

The shade I ended up ultimately purchasing was Santal, a creamy carnation pink with subtle gold sparkle.

On the lips:

Chanel Rouge Allure Lacque is a must have for any lip product lover. They are pricey, at $33 for a lipstick, but the fact that it is a two in one product should ease the blow a bit. I definitely see myself purchasing at least another shade, and I am thinking that Dragon would be next on the list.

Who else loves Chanel? Are you feeling the new Rouge Allure Lacque?

La Prairie Plumage de Nuit Fall Color Story, Review, & Swatches

Have you ever come across a product line that emanates luxury from every gilded crevice? I have experienced indulgent cosmetic bliss by way of the La Prairie "Plumage de Nuit" (feathers of the night) Fall 2009 colour collection. While La Prairie as a whole is a luxury cosmetics brand that has for the most part slipped past the radar, I knew as soon as I saw Plumage that I would never be the same.

Housed in elegant silver packaging that is chic but not bulky or heavy, Plumage de Nuit features shades of plum, brown, and copper. Colors range from neutral to bold, making the final look very customizable. The color palette reminds me of the rainforest meets African safari, simply stunning.

Plumage de Nuit includes:

Cellular Treatment Eye Colour Ensembles (Limited Edition):
• Les Sandpipers – a quad of warm golden colors
• Les Doves – a quad of cool silver and platinum hues

Cellular Luxe Lip Colours:
• Molten – copper
• Cardinal – rouge
• Velvet – plum

Cellular Lip Colour Effects:
• Maribou Glace – pink
• Firefly Glace – peachy copper

Cellular Treatment Powder Blush Duo (Limited Edition):
• Rosy Lovebirds – rose / pink duo
• Peachy Lovebirds – peach / bronze duo

Cellular Treatment Illuminating Face Powder:
• Soft Glow

You all know how I do it here on Krasey Beauty, here is a detailed review of some of the pieces, with photos for you to ogle.
Cellular Luxe Lipcolor in Velvet. Velvet is a gorgeous shade of plum, bordering on red with very strong pink notes. This lipstick glissades (slides) across the lips, enveloping them in rich, moist, pigmented color. Lasting power is phenomenal, and these lipsticks have a slight fragrance, but no taste that I can discern.

Swatches: On hand, then on lips.
Cellular Treatment Powder Blush Duo in Peachy Lovebirds. A duo of peach and bronze, this compact provides you with silky, smooth, soft focus color. You won't get intense pigmentation or clown cheeks with these powders, but rather a soft, lit-from-within glow. I love using the peach on the apples of my cheeks, with a bit of the bronze in the hollows of my cheeks for contour.
Last, but certainly not least,

Cellular Lip Colour Effects in Maribou Glace. A medium pastel pink, this lipgloss is very high on the shimmer and shine scale, in a sophisticated sort of way. This lipgloss is neither tacky nor watered down, but a blissful state in the middle that gives it the ability to adhere to the lips without gluing them together. Lightly fragranced and infused with light reflecting pigments, this lipgloss makes lips look plump and feel pillowy. This is what grown up shimmer looks like.
This collection is truly a feast for the high-end cosmetics lover. Plumage de Nuit is available now, both on the website and in major fine department stores.
