Don't be Tardy for this Party- Lippmann Happy Birthday

This polish will make you party like it's your birthday

In case you were wondering, this does seem to be a week of nail polish here on Krasey Beauty. I have really found myself experimenting recently with both texture and color, resulting in a myriad of new options for my digits. Fac: one of my latest lacquer loves happens to be textured polish. Specifically, I am adoring texture in the form of the sequins and glitter present in select colors from Deborah Lippmann's Lippmann Collection. My newest discovery is the blingtastic Happy Birthday.

Skincare 201 with Dr Tina Alster

Welcome to round 2 of my skincare enlightenment series. This time, I bring to you various words of wisdom and skincare gems from none other than dermatologist extraordinaire, Dr Tina S. Alster.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a press event held in the fabulous Peninsula Spa, where attendees gathered to get the 411 on skincare from an industry leader. With a resume that reads like an honor student's report card, it becomes clear that Dr Alster is an expert in her field, a wealth of skincare knowledge, and one of the best and brightest in the business. I can also attest to the fact that she also has a fabulous personality, and a killer fashion sense (she is a fan of Jason Wu). Pluses in my book, though completely optional in a good dermatologist.

Daily Dose of Yum- Gourmet Flavored Popcorn from Popcornopolis

Nom Nom Nom

I know what you are thinking, and yes, that is me eating pasta. Anywho, welcome to my first food post!

Now I am by no means gourmet certified, but I do consider myself to be a big time foodie. I love to cook, I love to watch the Food Network (yay, it's back!), but most of all, I love to snack. I will almost always eat small portions at dinner in order to save room to snack later.

Now I go through phases where I fixate on one particular snackfood in particular. Allow me to introduce my newest obsession, gourmet flavored popcorn from Popcornopolis.

Born in California, this popcorn company has been popping up (hehe) lately at my local Costco. Packaged in adorable little cones, these treats are delicious whether you go with the sweet or the savory options. With more flavors than dollars in my wallet, Popcornopolis definitely brings the yum.

I have stocked up on nearly 20 bags of this yummy goodness, in 9 of the flavors offered. My favorites thus far have been Cheddar and Cinnamon Bun, though I can honestly say that there is no bad flavor. If you don't see me for a couple of days, it's probably because I am in a popcorn induced coma.

What's your favorite snack?

Fashion Inspiration: Pierre Cardin- 60 Years of Innovation

Fashion and beauty go hand in hand, as one almost always influences and inspires the other. Coming forth to both pay homage to a house and to inspire the masses is a tasty new tidbit in the form Jean-Pascal Hesse's newest book. In commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the Maison Cardin, Pierre Cardin- 60 Years of Innovation is a commemorative retrospective of the work of its founder, fashion designer Pierre Cardin.

Thierry Mugler Beauty Wants You to Gloss Your Lashes with Cils Vinyle

The last item in my Thierry Mugler mini-series was also the last item I finally decided on during that fateful day of beauty shopping at The Bay. I was obviously on the search for all things new and unusual, and since I had room for one more I wanted to go with at least one eye product. In the end, Cils Vinyle it was. I think it was the gloss for my lashes part that drew me in.

Help Haiti with Yoga Works and Talika

In these rough times, it is nice to know that companies are raising awareness and doing their part to aid in the Haiti relief effort. Here are the newest ways you can help

Talika- For every online purchase at www.talika.com between February 1, 2010 and April 30, 2010, $1.00 will be donated to Doctors Without Borders to aid in Haiti’s Disaster Relief.

YogaWorks- This Sunday, January 24th, Yogaworks studios at Soho and Midtown West will be holding yoga classes whose proceeds will go 100% towards the Red Cross Haitian Relief Fund. All the information is below.

I truly hope you take advantage of both of these opportunities to contribute towards healing the devastation Mother Nature has wrought upon so many people.

Thierry Mugler Beauty- The Plexi Gloss

On my many adventures both around North America and through the world of beauty blogging, there comes a time when I stumble across things that are so beautiful that they transcend Earth. So splendiferous, that they must have come from a different planet altogether.

Such is the case with Thierry Mugler Beauty, a brand I discovered during a trip to Montreal last year.

I want to get this party started by showing you my favorite product thus far, Plexi Gloss.

A Very GaGa FOTD

Feeling the need to live up to the impeccable beauty reputation of one of my style icons, I tried to step it up artistically when I did my look for the concert. I apologize in advance since I do look a little haggard. I am not wearing foundation or tinted moisturizer, so you get to see my skin in its natural state. This was done in ten minutes in the office bathroom. Anywho, on with the show.

To read what I used, jump it!

Lady Gaga Takes on NYC- The Monster Ball Concert at Radio City

Those who follow me on twitter know, yesterday I had a life-altering experience in the form of Lady Gaga's first NYC concert on her Monster Ball Tour. Suffice it to say that the show blew my ever-loving mind, assaulting my senses with so much awesomeness that I left with no voice, and very little thought capacity. In other words, your krasey beauty's brain became a krasey pile of ooey gooey goodness. Of course I want to share the experience with you, so fasten your seatbelts kids, because tons of pictures lay ahead.

You know you wanna see more, so go ahead and take the jump.

Make Up Designory Lip Glaze

The time has come for me to once again dive headfirst into the amazing world of Make-Up Designory Cosmetics. This time, I want to introduce you all to the newest lip products, Lip Glazes in Bare and Java.

Smashbox Halo Hydrating Shadows

Hypothesis: If I love eyeshadow
and
Hypothesis: If I love anything Smashbox does, especially the Halo Powders
then
Conclusion: It is inevitable that I too will love the new Smashbox Halo Eyeshadows.

And oh yes, I do love them. The newest product to come out of the Halo family (Halo Face Powder and Halo Glow are the first two), Smashbox Halo Hydrating Shadows are like nothing I have ever seen before in an eye product. A dual chambered powder eyeshadow that enables you to "shave" off some of the product before you apply, these high-tech wonders have quickly become my morning go-to for quick, easy, flawless eye looks.

For swatches of all of them, and an in-depth review, take the jump!

Golden Globes Beauty- Toni Collette by La Mer, DEX New York, and Sensai

For the Golden Globes, actress Toni Collette was done up oh so right by Makeup Artist Gita Bass. Here is how she got the look:

Gita added a layer of La Mer’s The Body Crème to keep Toni's skin looking glowing and radiant. To keep her face looking flawless she used The Radiant Concealer SPF 25 under her eyes and on any redness. She also prepped the lips with the amazing La Mer Lip Balm to keep them full and hydrated all night long.

For the makeup, Gita created a smoky bronze eye for Toni by using DEX New York Rockefeller Gold as the base. She applied the newest version of cult favorite SENSAI 38 Degrees Mascara - Volumizing to her lashes for long lasting full coverage for the entire night that even the rain couldn’t wash off. Toni’s skin was veiled in SENSAI’s New Bronzing Gel – Bass received special access to this line coming out for Spring 2010 in March (3 shades) to give her a sun kissed golden -glow while leaving her skin moist and refreshed.

Gita Bass suggests “To intensify the bronze smoky eye I used the SENSAI Eyeliner pencil in brown inside the eye, it has amazing pigment and stays put.”
All that info aside, did you like Miss Collette's look of the evening?

Find Your Luvah with Purple Lab

Those in attendance will not only have the opportunity to be part of a potential world record breaker, but to also meet fellow singles and score some sweet swag.

Winter Skin Woes and the Miracles of Dermalogica and La Prairie

Winter has kicked in full-scale here in NYC, as temperatures in the 20's and teens are unfortunately becoming commonplace. You know you are in a bad way when 40 degree temps sound like a heatwave. Anywho, try as I might to counteract polar bear weather conditions, my skin is still unfortunately starting to act up on me. One week of falling off the bandwagon, and this is what I get...

Shame on me, but I slacked off on my routine for all of a week. What months of diligent skincare wrought was undone, as I found myself with a dry and bumpy situation on my forehead that needed timely intervention. In desperate need of some relief, I turned to what is sure to become a new staple, along with a tried-and-true favorite.

To find out what got me back on track, take the jump!

MUD is Beautiful- More Make-up Designory Eyeshadows

*We aren't talking about that kind of mud, though he does look like he is having fun.
This is more like it:

*Yep, I went there... again.

OK, so I say this a lot but... I really do love colorful eyeshadow. Having a collection of over 150 different shades, textures, and finishes, it is no small thing for me to say that a new brand (to me) has caught my eye and then captured my makeup-loving heart. Those who are longtime readers know that Make Up For Ever, Illamasqua, Smashbox, and NARS top my list, but the newest contender that has vied its way for supremacy and has come out in the top three is the Make-up Designory (MUD) cosmetics line. For a brand to stand out for this cosmetic junkie, you know it has to be something special.

Manicure of the Week, and More Zoya Goodness

I didn't want to leave all of you with only my unskilled attempt to swatch Adina from Zoya's Reverie. Source                                                                               ...Settle down kids, skincare class in in session

I have covered many a skincare brand and product here on Krasey Beauty, and have even gone so far as to explain the science behind some of the hot topic ingredients that are out on the market today, present in my lotions, potions, and various shmears. Please Help Haiti

I know that most of the time it is light-hearted banter and fun here on Krasey Beauty, but I want to take the time to call to everyone's attention a very devastating tragedy that has caused a nation's walls to come tumbling down. On January 12th, a series of severe earthquakes rocked Haiti, bringing with it death, destruction, and utter devastation. The stone weight of grief reverberates through us all as images of destruction are everywhere, and many are left to worry about their family and loved ones overseas. I personally have friends who don't know if their families in Haiti are okay, and that brings tears to my eyes.

I am writing this in the hopes that all of you will do what you can to help the relief efforts. There are many rumors and hoaxes swirling around the internet, so I wanted to present a list of legitimate charitable organizations that you can donate to and support. Information and image is taken from the Huffington Post.

The American Red Cross is pledging an initial $200,000 to assist communities impacted by this earthquake. They expect to provide immediate needs for food, water, temporary shelter, medical services and emotional support. They are accepting donations through their International Response Fund.
UNICEF has issued a statement that "Children are always the most vulnerable population in any natural disaster, and UNICEF is there for them." UNICEF requests donations for relief for children in Haiti via their Haiti Earthquake Fund. You can also call 1-800-4UNICEF.
•Donate through Wyclef Jean's foundation, Yele Haiti. Text "Yele" to 501501 and $5 will be charged to your phone bill and given to relief projects through the organization.
Operation USA is appealing for donations of funds from the public and corporate donations in bulk of health care materials, water purification supplies and food supplements which it will ship to the region from its base in the Port of Los Angeles. Donate online at www.opusa.org, by phone at 1-800-678-7255 or, by check made out to Operation USA, 3617 Hayden Ave, Suite A, Culver City, CA 90232.
Save The Children has launched an emergency relief effort for Haiti. Donate to their fund to provide medical attention and clean water to children and families.
International Medical Corps is assembling a team of first responders and resources to provide lifesaving medical care and other emergency services to survivors of the earthquake. The IMC previously helped recovery efforts after September 2009's earthquake in Sumatra, Indonesia, and the massive 2005 earthquake in Pakistan. Donate to the International Medical Corps through their 24-hour hotline at 800-481-4462
•Ben Stiller's Stillerstrong campaign will be temporarily diverting all donations to support the Haiti relief effort.
Partners In Health reports its Port-au-Prince clinical director , Louise Ivers, has appealed for assistance: "Port-au-Prince is devastated, lot of deaths. SOS. SOS... Temporary field hospital by us at UNDP needs supplies, pain meds, bandages. Please help us." Donate to their Haiti earthquake fund.
•As a UN Special Envoy to Haiti, Bill Clinton appeared on CNN on Wednesday to ask for further assistance in bringing relief to populations on the ground. You can donate through the Clinton Foundation or text HAITI to 20222 to donate $10.
Mercy Corps is sending a team of emergency responders to assess damage, and seek to fulfill immediate needs of quake survivors. The agency aided families after earthquakes in Peru in 2007, China and Pakistan in 2008, and Indonesia last year. Donate online, call 1-888-256-1900 or send checks to Mercy Corps Haiti Earthquake Fund; Dept NR; PO Box 2669; Portland, OR 97208.
Doctors Without Borders is on the ground and has set up clinics to treat injured in Haiti. Donate any amount so they can keep their efforts going.
Direct Relief is committing up to $1 million in aid for the response and is coordinating with its other in-country partners and colleague organizations. Their partners in Haiti include Partners in Health, St. Damien Children's Hospital, and the Visitation Hospital, which are particularly active in emergency response. Donate to Direct Relief online.
Oxfam is rushing in teams from around the region to respond to the situation to provide clean water, shelter, sanitation and help people recover. Donate to Oxfam America online.
•The UN World Food Programme is gathering all available resources to deliver food to the recently homeless and impoverished in Haiti. Donate now to help bring food to those affected as quickly and efficiently as possible.
•The Baptist Haiti Mission is operating an 82-bed hospital that is "overflowing with injured." Donate online to BHM and 100% of your donation will go to the relief effort.
International Medical Corps is assembling a team of first responders and resources to provide lifesaving medical care and other emergency services to survivors of the earthquake. Donate online.
•Following the earthquake, Catholic Relief Services made an immediate commitment of $5 million for emergency supplies. They are distributing food and relief supplies, and importing plastic sheeting, mosquito nets and water purification tablets from the Domincan Republic. Donate to Catholic Relief Services to assist in these efforts.
•Give to the American Jewish World Service's Earthquake Relief Fund.
•CARE is deploying emergency team members to Port-au-Prince today to assist in recovery efforts. They're focusing their efforts on rescuing children who may still be trapped in schools that collapsed. Donate to CARE.
Orphans International America reports that they have been able to make contact with their program director in the town of Jacmel, a city about 20 miles southwest of Port-au-Prince that houses OI's hospitals and schools. Orphans International America is attempting to gather food, clean water and emergency medical supplies to Jacmel. You can contribute to them through PayPal.
The International Rescue Committee is deploying an emergency response team to Haiti to deliver urgent assistance to earthquake survivors and to help overwhelmed local aid groups struggling to meet the immense emergency needs. They will focus on critical medical, water and sanitation assistance. Donate to the IRC Haiti Crisis Fund.
NetHope is coordinating its response with its NGO member agencies and with the UN's Emergency Telecom Cluster to establish connectivity in Haiti. Seventeen of NetHope's members are already providing aid and deploying resources on the ground. Donate online.
The Haitian Health Foundation is still assessing the situation of their full-time facilities and staff in Haiti. They regularly provide health care, development and relief to rural mountain villages in Haiti. Donate to the Haitian Health Foundation.
•World Vision has more 370 staff in the country. Staff members from less-affected regions of Haiti are mobilizing, and World Vision's global experts are expected to arrive in the disaster zone as soon as possible. Donate to World Vision.
The Jewish Federations of North America is partnering with the American Jewish Joint Distribution committee and have created a dedicated Haiti Relief page for online donations.
United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) is the UN's humanitarian fund responding to emergencies like the earthquake in Haiti. Donate online.
Friends of the Orphans will use donations to meet the needs of first responders such as first aid supplies, shipping of necessary materials to assist in efforts, and treating the injured. Those interested in helping the relief effort can visit www.friendsoftheorphans.org, or call 888-201-8880 to make a donation.
World Concern's staff is almost entirely composed of Haitian nationals and will be tapping into private as well as U.S. government supplies to help in the relief effort it hopes will soon be supplemented by cargo ships. Donate to World Concern.
Merlin USA is sending an emergency response team out to the region and have subsequently launched an emergency appeal to bring urgent medical aid and assistance to those affected. Donate to Merlin USA.
The Salvation Army has staff on the ground and already the organization has set aside $50,000 in direct aid to the country but the organization is in need of additional donations. Donations can be made online or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
•The American Refugee Committee is sending a response team to provide water, sanitation, and shelter for earthquake survivors. Donate online or read about their volunteer opportunities.
AmeriCares has pledged $5 million in aid in the wake of the catastrophe and is sending an emergency shipment with $3 million worth of medicines and supplies for earthquake survivors. Donate online or call 1-800-486-HELP.
Handicap International will provide care to those injured by the earthquake and its aftershocks, including support to hospitals for essential post-surgery and rehabilitation care, as well as emergency shelter, emergency basic needs and food distribution for at least 5,000 people initially. Donate online.
Episcopal Relief & Development has committed to providing Haiti both long and short-term support in the wake of the disaster. Donate to the Haiti Fund or call 1-800-334-7626, ext. 5129. Gifts can be mailed to Episcopal Relief & Development, PO Box 7058, Merrifield, VA 22116-7058.

Pink, Purple and White Valentine's Themed FOTD
